My name is Madelyn Augustine and I am a journalist. I have told stories through written words, captivating images and riveting videos. Wrestling, school fundraisers, Unified softball, dance team, and TaeKwonDo are just a few of the many topics that I’ve covered. I have met countless new people throughout the process of interviewing, researching, and completing a story. I have been able to tell the stories for those that aren’t able to tell it themselves.

As a student journalist I am the voice of the student body and am able to capture moments that are otherwise missed. I am not afraid to stand up for what I believe in. I continue to work and fight for a better world in journalism so one day “fake news” is just a memory from the past. I firmly believe that student journalists, like myself and thousands of others, should have the right to publish the full truth no matter who it may offend.

Since my first day in my Intro to Journalism class, I have been learning what it takes to be a journalist. Between national and state conventions and hundreds of assignments I’ve made vast strides of progress in improving my skill set. Each and every day I learn something new that helps me refine what I already know.

I am far from done with my journey and have goals that are set sky high with the drive to reach them. My career as a journalist is just beginning.
